Example of a Centrelink Certificate. These are extremely rare however, if you believe you should have been entitled to one you can contact PH 131673 International Services to request a certificate.
Previously it had been stated that certificates would not be re-distributed. Fortunately we discovered that you can indeed request a copy so if you believe you had a copy or should have received a copy please make contact immediately. This letter enables the holder to be recognised as a 'Transitional Customer' and apply for Australian citizenship provided they meet any additional criteria stipulated by the Immigration Department.
Basic criteria is you had to arrive with the intent to live in Australia between February 27th, 2001 and May 26th, 2001. In addition to this you need to have had contact with Centrelink by February 26, 2004. If you received payments such as Family Tax benefits for your children, rental assistance, used their services or spoke with anyone from Centrelink in this 3 year period it entitles you to one of these certificates.
If you are fortunate enough to be eligible for one of these certificates you are a type of Eligible NZ Citizen which is almost the same as a Permanent Resident who is able to apply for citizenship. You are also entitled to Centrelink payments should you need.
Please contact International Services Ph 131673 to discuss your situation and history.
